Gentle but effective...
Bowen is a non-invasive, hands on form of therapy that uses rolling-type movements over very precise points on the body (similar to acupuncture points). These moves are designed to stimulate the tissue and nerve pathways, releasing muscle adhesion and kick starting the body's ability to heal itself.
Bowen Therapy works by moving fascia (deep and superficial connective tissue housing nerves, muscles, skin, lymph and blood vessels, and organs). Adhesions within the fibres in the fascia are released and the affected area can become more hydrated -thereby allowing the removal of toxins as the lymphatic system is stimulated. There is no pulling or cracking of joints, and there are resting periods incorporated to allow the body to absorb the information and respond accordingly.
The whole body is generally addressed (a holistic approach) and it is a pleasant, relaxing experience. Treatments take around 45 minutes (horse or adult human), and two to three treatments are generally recommended in the first instance at weekly intervals for the effects to be as long lasting as possible.
